You’re a minute away from watching a rare sight. A wild elephant gives birth at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Chobi National Park, Botswana, and cameras are there to film it.
Mama has total trust in her herd. They protect her from predators as she delivers her baby. As soon as the baby is born, the herd happily douses the newborn in dirt to protect its delicate skin from the sun. After that, they just went crazy! They almost seem to be celebrating the birth by loudly trumpeting into the air.
It’s an amazing thing to watch as the herd supports the mother. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) is a nonprofit based in Kenya whose mission is to protect and conserve wildlife and their habitats.
